Welcome Funny Mummy Readers

Monday, April 13th, 2009

As of today, my blog posts will appear here, instead of my old home at The Funny Mummy Files.

Welcome new/old readers.

Great day to join me as RIGHT NOW I am supposed to be at a special Canada AM broadcast at the Masonic Temple, watching the entire cast of Corner Gas talk about their show.

But where am I? At home, in front of my computer, Twittering, fuming, and trying out a new tooth whitening process (while testing my gag reflex at the same time, it turns out).

At 10:00 last night, my 10 year old daughter lost her eggs. Her chocolate eggs. All over the bathroom floor. After she ate them.

So, welcome to the world of Mom where knowing that leaving at 6:00 in the morning to indulge in a media event was just not going to happen.

She’s fine now. I kind of wish she’d throw up just one more time to justify my change in plans. Just a bit. Because if she doesn’t, I don’t even have an excuse to miss going to the gym this morning.

With my slightly whiter teeth.

Resolutionary Thinking

Happy 2009!

I’ll be kicking my year off with two shows tomorrow – starting with Canada AM and an early start (I’ll be on at about 7:40). I’ll be talking about trying to get the entire family organized in the New Year – of course with the end goal of trying to split the workload around here with the four kids. And minimize the fighting. And have a clean house once in a while. And get to the gym.

Hey, it’s the New Year – I have to at least try.

Then I’ll be driving down to the CityTV studios to talk about 3 “Resolution Solutions” I’ve been working on with the Proctor & Gamble folks. If you want a preview, go to my website and click on the Tide logo. The show will be live at 12:30 p.m., and its a phone-in, so if you can, please do.

Then I’m letting my family organize themselves, and the resolutions land where they may as I head out for a girls’ weekend skiing. There may be more apres than ski, but it’ll be a good ending to this holiday season before I’m back in the routine on Monday.

(Actually the real holiday starts when the school bus rolls by – with my kids on it. Don’t tell me you weren’t thinking the same thing.)

Happy New Year.

Good Morning…

On Thursday of this week I was on Canada AM, talking about Bedtime Tips for kids. I hadn’t done this show before, and it was great.

I was interviewed by Seamus O’Regan, who is just as cute in person, and chatted with Beverly Thompson as well, about the teen obsession with the movie “Twilight”. In fact, as I write this, my 17-year-old is driving to the movie with a friend. I hear it’s terrific…if you are a teenage girl. Sort of Harlequin meets Dracula.

The only thing scarier than a vampire is the traffic I had to face at 6:30 in the morning to get to the CTV Studios in Scarborough, from Mississauga. Got there precisely on time at 8:10. Seamus tells me he doesn’t face much traffic at 4:40 a.m., when he’s on the road to work.

This week, I’m getting a taste of my old 9-5 life, but in a much more exciting way. I’ll be down at the CBC building all week taping a pilot for a radio show, with my writing partner on this project, award-winning children’s author Helaine Becker. Stay tuned for information as to whether we can impress the CBC brass enough to land a summer series.

Fingers crossed…and garlic necklace on.
