I’ve discovered one very significant way in which BlackBerrys are different than children. While both provide me with hours of entertainment, love, frustration and devotion, I can finally make good on an empty threat I’ve given my live children for years.
“You know I might just take you back to the hospital and ask for a new one.”
I got a new BlackBerry. It’s a Curve. And I love it. While my little Seamus was a trusty sidekick, my new sidekick kinda, well, kicks you know what.
It’s got a video camera, still camera, a fancy light-up rolling ball (goodbye wheel!) and it’s thinner, sleeker, and younger. It’s sort of like a trophy BlackBerry.
I haven’t yet christened the new one yet; for now he’s Seamus II.
As for Seamus I? He’s taking a well deserved break/nap on my desk, lying in wait until my oldest daughter needs to revive him. I guess I’ll be his Grandma then, in a hillbilly sort of way (It’s your brother! No, your son!)
Another difference between this BlackBerry and my children?
His BlueTooth is not as a result of an unfortunate coffee table head dive.
