That’s me and my little girl @toryhalpin when she turned one, in 1992. And I turned 29. For the first and only time:) And that’s the OG GrandmaLife Grandma in our house, my Mum (still with us today at 85!)

Tory is my west coast baby, born in Richmond General Hospital in BC. (Other kids born in Calgary, Toronto and Mississauga).

And yes of course I was wearing a blazer for the picture. I was the Product Manager for Intranet Services at BCTel, now Telus. A lifetime ago.

We are already at Episode #95 of Go-To Grandma!

When I started this show two years ago, I had two grandchildren. But thanks to my daughter @toryhalpin and her husband Braden, we have just welcomed grandbaby number 3, and our first granddaughter, Sloane Isobel Halpin. She’s healthy and we are so happy to have her join my family of wise, wise women. Sure, the men are fine too, but it wouldn’t segway as well into this week’s interviews.

We start our show this week with @ginasorell bestselling novel The Wise Women which looks at the Wise family of women. The matriarch of this story famously advises the world on life issues, while struggling to find the right things to say to her own daughters, and grandchild. Sound familiar? We’re sometimes great with telling strangers how to live their lives, but it can be harder closer to home. This real and humourous novel is my recommendation for a great summer read.

What? You don’t want to sit and read a book all afternoon, you want to go kayak with whales? Climb a mountain? Well you’re still with the right show as I talk to Andrea Mandel-Campbell, the founder of @karibu_adventures . This adventure travel company is focused on active travel to places you might not have considered. Find out how travel has changed since the pandemic, and why more of us are looking for destinations and experiences that take us out of our comfort zone.

One thing that makes us all uncomfortable is the idea of being taken advantage financially. Unfortunately, this is happening more and more with seniors, and today we have Part 1 of a 2 part interview on how financial elder financial abuse is taking place, and what we can do to protect ourselves, by first understanding what it is and how it could happen to any of us. A very important discussion with the wise folks at @rbc

Hey just looking out and tuning in to recording Episode #96 of Go-To Grandma this morning.

Talking all about respecting our elders (that’s me) in Canada with @not_that_kind_of_rabbi Ralph Benmergui, and what Canadian seniors are most worried about, according to a research study from the National Institute on Aging. That’s right. I’m not concerned with anything dubbed anti-aging because that’s pretty pointless. We age. Get over it and embrace it.

Also we are kicking off #pridemonth with a look at the festivals taking place , as a special #Take5WithRBC segment. We all support Pride here. Wave those flags.
