Back to another @meafordpubliclibrary author event…this time to see pal @authorjenniferrobson talk not only about her latest book Coronation Year but all of her other bestsellers. I picked up one I haven’t read yet and can’t wait to get into. Jennifer has a doctorate from Oxford so her research is impeccable and her storytelling is wonderful. Enjoyed her discussion about how women authors are sometimes summarily dismissed by their male counterparts, until they realize how successful she is.

The magical bell that @joannewallaceca rang today, signalling the end of her chemo at @markham_stouffville_hospital and thrilled to be there in person to see and hear it. Seems like ages ago when you said Sep 21 would be the day. And now onwards and upwards to the next steps on this journey that no one should have to take but many have to great success. Can’t wait for the next milestone. Or for Jo to put me in a headlock again. Xo

Tune into Go-To Grandma this weekend for Episode 111!

This week I have have two inspiring and insightful grandparents on the show, sharing their knowledge and experiences, as well as our always informational Take 5 With RBC interview.

Do you know what “best before” means? No, I’m not talking about our own personal best before dates, I don’t believe in that, but best before or expiry dates on food. Can potato chips really expire? If you eat something after its best before date will it make you sick? Food waste is a huge issue in Canada, and food expert and author of 21 cookbooks, and grandma, @rosereisman is back on the show to tell us what those terms really mean, and how long you can go beyond best before, with different types of food.

Engaging with our grandchildren in the kitchen is something grandparents love to do, but engaging with them in community involvement and volunteerism is something we should do as well. @pjvandyk is the granddad of two, and he shares his own active involvement in the community of Burlington with them every chance he gets. Today he’s going to share the work he’s doing with @haltonwomensplace , and tell us how we can get involved with that initiative, as well as others with our own grandchildren.

And on our Take 5 With @rbc interview we get their latest economic outlook. What’s ahead, with the US dollar, real estate and inflation, according to the experts? You’ll find out as I chat with one of their economists.

It’s that time again. I only record my radio show and podcast #GoToGrandma once a week but I feel like it comes so quickly! Must be because I enjoy it so much.

And it’s always better when I have guests in studio so it was great to have @journeywoman_original @thecarolynray in to talk about solo travel for mature women, and how travel has changed her life. I knew the original Journeywoman, the wonderful Evelyn Hannon, and I would agree with her daughter @ericaehm that Carolyn is the right person to continue the legacy.
